Brad Paisley

For Christmas my parents gave me 1 ticket to go see Brad Paisley in concert. I was completely surprised. This was something I wanted but didn't think it was going to happen because tickets can be pricey. Christmas morning I opened a box and taped to the bottom was 1 ticket. I was so happy. I got to go see Brad Paisley. Well everyone was a little confused for just getting 1 ticket. I really didn't mind that was going by myself.

For my birthday Jeremiah got me the Scott McCreery CD because he was touring with Brad Paisley and so he wanted me to know his songs. Placed inside the CD case was another ticket to the concert. I would not be going alone. I was so so so excited. This Christmas and birthday were full of surprises.

January 27th finally came. I had my boots and hat all ready. Some asked if I would look out of place in the get up. NOT AT ALL!!!

Yes, we look good!

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. I knew every song that Scotty and Brad sang. The Band Perry put on a great show and I knew some of their stuff. Brad Paisley is a great singer/song writer but he can really play the guitar, WOW!!!

I loved it and so grateful for the opportunity to go!

Quarters

For a while I've been trying to think of clever things that come in a form of a quarter.

4 quarters = $1

4 quarters = a football game

......

and thats all all could really think of.

But there is something great about a quarter.

Being a QUARTER OF A CENTURY!!! That = 25!

It was a great day! Something that is too special and sacred to share but just know it was amazing to be with the people I love and to be in the house of the Lord. A great way to spend a birthday!

I'm thankful for the Savior Jesus Christ.

On this day of Thanksgiving I just want to express my gratitude for the enabling power of the Atonement. I know that Christ has suffered all the pains and afflictions, He has paid the price for us, and He suffered and sacrificed because of his love for each of us. And the Atonement can comfort us in times of trial and struggle, but it's also what brings the most joy and happiness. I know that He died and He lives again. He knows each of us better than we know ourselves. I'm so grateful for the knowledge of the gospel, eternal families, temples, and the power of prayer.

This fellow likes to serve and loves people almost as much as I do. He is charming, funny, and caring. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like him. We have lots of fun together and he seems to stick around despite my short comings.

I'm thankful for friends.

I know some pretty great people. Some I have been friends with a really long time, others are new but all of them have influenced my life for the better. It even talks about my friends in my patriarchal blessing. I'm grateful for childhood friends, high school friends, BYU-Idaho friends, work friends, church friends, and random friends. I love the fact that with so many I may not see very often but we can talk as if we've been together all this time. I love the friends that when you first meet it's as if you've always been friends. I'm grateful for roommates who have become best friends, you know who you are. We've been together through the good and bad, and can still laugh together. I love the friends you can talk about the gospel and share spiritual experiences with. I love that my family are my best friends.

Friends are a blessing, and I am greatly blessed.

These two can't help but make me smile. They are at a fun age right now where they are constantly learning new things and yet are still babies. I was away at school when Benjamin was this age so I missed it, but seeing these two grow has been a complete delight.

This book has changed my life. I know that it was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith. It has influenced my life more than any other book. This book is one of the many things that sets us apart from other religions. It is another testament of our Savior Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for my siblings.

I'm the middle of seven with 2 in laws now, it's the best place to be. Surrounded by great people. It's crazy to think how we've all grown up. We range from 30 to 12. And there are lots of great memories throughout the years. We support each other, laugh with each other, and at times we may even cry with each other. My favorite is when we are all together!

Sarah, Jacob+Cori, Abby+Steve, Hannah, Caleb and Dinah. I love you! Thanks for all the fun times.

I have shelter, I have food, I have clothes, and I get to do fun things. So many don't know when they will eat again or don't have any where to sleep. I have a nice house with a comfortable bed, a closet full of clothes, plenty of shoes and I have food when ever I want. Not only are my needs met, but also my wants.

I'm thankful for my parents

I Rebekah Susan Hintze was born of goodly parents.

There really isn't enough I can say about my parents. They made me who I am today...literally :)
They are my biggest fans, encouraging me to always do my best. They are my biggest examples of how to live a Christ centered life. And they are best people I know.

I appreciate their enthusiasm for life, something fun is always in the works, and they both work hard. My dad is well liked at Deseret Industries and he does what is above and beyond what is expected of him, and my mom is not only a homemaker but a grandma and piano teacher. She has 30 students that she sees throughout the 5 day week.

They both have testimonies of the gospel, and try to emulate the life of our Savior. They lead our home and family with the principles taught in the scriptures and by our apostles and prophets.

I love both of them and grateful for all that they do and have done for me.

I'm thankful for reading.

I love to read. I was the kid that would stay up late just to finish a book. I remember starting a book in the evening and finishing it around 3 or 4 in the morning. I love it. I know it's a family thing, my mom and sisters are big readers too. One fun thing is I'm apart of a book club with some college roommates. I've been introduced to lots of great books. And it's still fun to keep in touch with such great girls.

I'm thankful for my presidency

I had to ditch on a a meeting tonight because I'm working really hard not to get sick and my body is just exhausted. My mom finally told me to just go to bed. So I sent a quick text to the lovely ladies and they said they had it under control and to just take care of myself. Seriously I couldn't fulfill my calling without those ladies.

I thoroughly enjoy serving with these sisters. They are not only great examples to those in the ward, but especially me. I learned a long time ago that in order to accomplish great things, you have surround yourself with great people.

I'm thankful for a home

I've been thinking a lot about this recently. I have a home, a sanctuary, a refuge. Yes it's in the form of a house, but it's what is inside that house. A family room and dining room for gathering. A kitchen where memories are made. A warm bed that welcomes me. And most importantly family who loves me.

I love my home, so many memories, and it's best when the home is full but there is no capacity all are welcome.

I'm thankful for good health

So this post has come at an interesting time. This morning I decided what I was going to post and I went up stairs and my mom told me that my little sister was sick. I went off to work and a few hours later I got an email saying that my older sister was sick and my dad was headed home from work. WOW! 3 out of the 5 of us were down. I got home from work and I found my little brother on a bed of blankets in the bathroom because he was down as well. So it's up to my mom and I.

Besides a little flu bug I'm grateful that I am healthy. I don't have diseases, broken bones, and for the most part am emotionally stable. I've never been checked into a hospital, the only thing that I've ever been under the knife for was to remove my gall bladder. (and I did that at a surgical day center, not a hospital) I can run, jump, and shake it at Zumba. I have energy to sail through the day. I'm healthy!

I'm thankful for the Mountain View YSA Ward

Today was a special day at church. I was able to witness the ward come together in fast and prayer and then we went out and tried to find members of our ward who we didn't know or hadn't seen in a long time. It was so neat to see members of the ward willing to go out and reach out to people they didn't even know. The outcome of this was successful, even if we have one person come back to church or at least we met someone new.

I love the ward, I love being able to serve in the capacity that I do. I learn so much from the kindness, dedication, and example from the sisters. It's amazing the love that I have for each of them.

I'm thankful for BYU Sports

I know that this may seem like a silly thing to be thankful for, but BYU sports has provided lots of entertainment the past couple years. This has been our 2nd year in a row to have season tickets to football and our first year for basketball.

Football I love it! I love the gathering of the fans. I love the smell of the air. I love the excitement. I love reading up on the different players. I really feel like Riley Nelson, JJ Di Luigi, McKay Jacobson, and Cody Hoffman and I are all friends. Don't worry I'm not creepy that I know what is going on in their personal lives. I love when they make a really great play and you can just feel the energy throughout the whole stadium. I don't like it when we loose, but I'm a fan through and through.

Basketball I love it too. Last night was my first game back this season. I was great to be back in the Marriott Center. It felt like it had been ages since I had been with Noah Hartsock, Brandon Davies, Charles Abuo, and Stephen Rogers. I did miss Jimmer and Jackson, but I think the boys will do just fine this year.

I'm thankful for music.

Music has always been apart of my life, thanks to my mother. I took piano lessons, then I quit and started cello lessons. Thats where my love for classical music began. I had the opportunity to participate in All City Children's Orchestra, Jordan Youth Symphony, Utah Youth Symphony, and high school orchestra. I've performed all over the valley and have played lots of the great classical hits by Bach, Mozart, etc.

I grew up loving musicals. We always look forward to Show Tunes Saturday Night. I've been to countless shows at Hale Center Theater, I've seen two Broadway productions--Wicked and Mary Poppins. During high school I participated in 9 musical productions. And then 1 1/2 a go I had a dream role of Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie.

My senior year of high school was a high light in my life. I had 5 music classes in my schedule my favorite being Madrigals. I've never had a Christmas quite like that one. We literally were all over the valley sharing Christmas cheer through music. I'll never forget the time we sang at the Center for Change, or one time singing at a care center and a little old lady waved her arm like she was directing the whole time with a smile on her face. Or the smiles on the children's faces as we sang of Child's Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. It definitely was a Christmas to remember all because of the magic of music.

I love dancing to music. Especially ballroom. Every Wednesday at BYU-Idaho you could find me at country dancing. Oh how I loved it. Then I took a couple ballroom dancing classes. There's just something about feeling the music and gliding round the floor.

Through these various musical experiences I've had grown intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally. My spirits have been lifted, and I have in a sense been "out of this world". I love religious music as well. The LDS Hymns have such a powerful message and bring hope and strengthen my faith. Different genres of songs are for different occasions. Cleaning my room: upbeat mix of everything. Studying or reading: classical, easy listening such as piano or instrumental. Road trips to Idaho: Country lots of it. Cooking: Easy going stuff like James Taylor or Michael Buble. There are many many songs that trigger a memory or a time in my life. I think I became more dependent on different songs in college that was a trying/amazing/emotional roller coaster/exciting/growing time in my life. And now nearly 2 years later I still have songs that hit it just right for me and I will always relate to this fun time in my life. SO I will now leave you with some songs to enjoy.

I'm thankful for a job.

Because of my job I'm able to earn, save and spend money. I'm gaining good skills and able to help people have a good experience at a dentist. I love the interactions I have with each of the patients and I love who I work with, it's a small office but I love that we all get a long great.

So if you are looking for a new dentist who will take great care of you, an assistant who is a champ at polishing your teeth, and an office manager who will really make you smile let me know.

The Dancing Shoes!

We all wear different shoes. Sunday shoes, work shoes, swimming shoes, athletic shoes, and house shoes are just to name a few. We have to choose our shoes carefully, you can't just buy any pair of shoes...especially for country dancing.

These shoes have danced around the floor countless times. They've taught many different classes and yes sadly as you can see have gotten stepped on a couple times. But in these shoes I made great memories and danced the night away doing the cowboy cha cha, two step, triple step, and every once in a while a fun line dance. By the time I graduated these shoes would dance themselves.

It came time to say goodbye to these shoes. They were completely danced out. I'm not though, I still got lots of dances left in me, but I guess I'll have to get new shoes. :)

My Best Friend's Wedding

It happened, the day that Kimberly and I have been talking about for years.

Kimberly married her Mr. Muench on July 16, 2011.

It was a beautiful day, and she was a beautiful bride. Jeremiah and I drove up to Rexburg for the big event. We got there just as the ceremony was starting so I waited outside the temple. Sadly the Idaho Falls temple was under major re-landscaping construction so there was piles of dirt everywhere. Luckily they were able to have some grass for pictures.

I couldn't be more happy for this young lady. We've been best friends since our second semester of college, we've seen the worst and best of each other. We've had many fun times and many tears together. From quoting movies to sharing a bed and talking through the night Kimberly is 1 in a million and she deserves the absolute best....and that is what she got with Tom. With only a couple interactions I've had with him, I knew the first time I met him and he would make my Kimberly a happy woman.

The reception was in her back yard, and it just felt right. I loved being there and seeing faces and friends from my time at BYU-Idaho. I chatted with old roommates, and my very first bishop and his wife; it's amazing how time passes and you still can talk as if you have seen each other last week.

Independence Day....

It was just what it should be.

My favorite holiday by far! Loved every bit of this year. My family started off by going to the rodeo on Saturday night. Everyone but Sarah was there, I was in heaven. I didn't get any pictures, but it was a great rodeo. It was Jeremiah's first rodeo, thank goodness it was a good one. I think I've got him sold.

Sunday was celebrated by singing patriotic hymns in church....I love them!

Monday started off with a breakfast with the cul-de-sac. We were teased with rain but was "showered" with good company. I have loved where I live for the past 18+ years, and still do. We have wonderful neighbors.

Then we headed over to the West Jordan parade. I wish I could say this was one of the best I've ever been to, it was ok, but not what it used to be. It was still fun to get out and celebrate with the community.

Then Jeremiah and I went over to his house for a BBQ, when we got there Reagan was setting up a huge slip and slide. I wasn't going to miss out on the fun! Jeremiah found some clothes for me to wear and I joined the gang. We had to put some dish soap on it to make it slippery and that it was. We had different competitions...I won for the slowest....go figure. It was great. We had a delicious BBQ then Jeremiah came back to my house for a little before BULL RIDER'S ONLY RODEO.

I was so excited. Like I said I think I Jeremiah sold on rodeos. We got a good deal on tickets and we were ready to rumble.

"The Star Spangled Banner" I LOVE AMERICA

Out of 35 rides only 2 cowboys got a qualified ride. Bull=33 Cowboys=2. The bulls won. I had never seen bulls buck like these bulls were bucking.

It amazes me how the "bull fighters" put their life on the line ever single ride. And I witness them save lives that night. It was amazing!

Following the rodeo were the long awaited fireworks. And they did not disappoint. I took these with my iPod so they aren't the best quality.

In all the whole holiday was just dreamy filled with family, friends, fireworks and freedom. I was reminded countless times how blessed I am to live in this country where we have so many freedoms, especially the freedom of religion. In God We Trust! I'm grateful to all those who are currently serving for this great nation. God Bless America!

WASHINGTON DC....Day 5

Day 5: National Harbor and First Class

My last day there came way too fast. I had so much fun, but of course you know what the saying is, "Time flies when you are having fun." It was a Saturday so the whole family was home. Sadly little Cora wasn't feel well so we didn't get out the door as early as we would have liked but it was nice to just have time to relax. The National Harbor was in the direction of the air port so it worked out perfect. It's a lot like the Gateway, but much better because it's a harbor. Disney is building something there so I would like to back when it's finished. We just wondered around looking at different shops, until we came to the Peeps Store, yes you read that right, the Peeps store.

They moved one of my favorite attractions to the National Harbor, it's called The Awakening. Check it out!

Pretty cool eh.

Our last stop was Potbelly's of course. I just can't get enough of that place. I really wish someone would buy a franchise and open it out here in SLC. I planned ahead and bought a bigger sandwich so I could eat part of it on the plane ride home.

It was a sad goodbye at the airport. And CJ had to hurry home so her and the family could go to a fun dinner. So I got dropped off about 1 1/2 hours early. It wasn't so bad though because I like people watching. I called my mom and let her know that I was on my way home. I was on the phone with Jeremiah when they came over the pa and asked for volunteers to be bumped because it was a full flight. I was first in line. Jeremiah wasn't too excited about that since he was ready for me to be home, but it was worth it to me if I could get a free ticket. As it turns out they didn't need me, but in return for volunteering I got bumped up to FIRST CLASS! I'll take it.

I boarded the plane and found my seat right away. It was a window seat with lots of room and I only had one person next to me. We chatted for a little bit about how fun it was to be bumped up to first class. Then we realized that we hadn't taken off yet. The pilot came over the intercom and said that because of weather we would be delayed. I was so so so happy I was in first class. They brought us drinks and took our order for dinner. I was going to miss my connecting flight so I called home and let them know that I was going to be later, but I didn't know how much later. Well 2 1/2 hours later we finally took off. It was a long wait, and I was grateful to be sitting in first class.

About a half hour into our flight a flight attendant brought a warmed washcloth, I really didn't know what to do with it, so I pretended while I watched everyone else. I had to act like I knew how to sit first class. Then they brought us warmed mixed nuts and a beverage of choice. Many of the first class passengers got alcoholic drinks because they didn't have to pay for them, me on the other hand asked for milk.

Then about half way through the flight our meal was brought to us. I was expecting a meal in a box, little did I know....needless to say I did not eat my saved sandwich from Potbellys.

As you can see first class is the way to go. I'm ruined now. I know what I'm missing when I sit in economy class. It was super roomy and quiet. A great way to end my wonderful trip. We got to Dallas and I was able to get on a flight that got me home around 11 pm. In all it was about a 12 hour day of traveling. Jeremiah was a so great to come pick me up so late. I came through the exit and he didn't even recognize me. I was wearing a new hoodie that I bought and he was looking for a green shirt. But it was a glorious reunion after a week. Personally I think it was a longer week for him than it was for me. I was happy to back with him, and my family.

WASHINGTON DC....Day 4

Day 4: The Amish Market and The Newseum

This was Friday, and it was a very relaxing day although I did promise Sarah that I would wake up and have breakfast with her, so I was up at 8 eating with her before she headed to school. Then CJ and I went to the Amish market. I had never been to one before, but have wanted to. There was one only 10 mins away from her house. It was a fun experience. They had everything you could think of food wise, and it was in different "stations", I couldn't buy honey at the meat register, I had to buy it at the pastry register. They were sampling some DELICIOUS cheeses, oh my goodness they were so good. The butcher block smelt so good with the bbq sauce and seasonings. We treated ourselves to stuffed pretzels and fresh squeezed lemonade. All of the employees were dressed in the traditional Amish attire, and it seemed that each family had a different station or department. It was a fun experience and I'm glad we took the time to go.

Next stop The Newseum. But on our way into town I was able to see this beautiful sight...

The temple is right off of 495, one of the busiest highways. You come around a bend and boom there it is. It's even better at night.

We made it to the Newseum, and it was wonderful. We first made a stop at the restroom, here is a cute picture of Cora while we were waiting for her mom.

These are some of the signs in the bathroom, there are misprinted headlines. They were pretty funny.

There were so many exhibits to see and I wish I could have spent more time with each one, one of my favorite parts of the museum was the photos. They had a couple exhibits about photography. It was amazing to see history through pictures. Some were not planned at all but turned out amazing.

A piece of the Pentagon. Right next to this was an exhibit about a photo/journalist who was having breakfast then heard the news and went in to take pictures. He survived the first tower calasping, but went back in and didn't survive the second. They retrevied his camera and found pictures that were taken just before he died.

It was a fun day. I loved everything about this museum. It was so interesting to see the improvements and evolution of the news and the way it's broadcasted. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in DC. It cost $20 but it's good for 2 days and its worth every penny.

Day 3: A visit to the ORM and American History Museum

CJ had to take Cora to a Dr. appointment so I rode the metro into the city by myself. It brought back so many memories. It even smells the same. I love to people watch and just take it all in while riding. I got off at Farragut North and walked down 1700 St. Stopped at my favorite Potbellys to eat a sandwich and then I walked over to the office at 1800 G. I only told 2 people that I was coming to visit so I was really excited to see the reactions. I walked into the building acting as if I belonged there (I was only dressed in striped sailor shorts and a polo). Went through security, and hopped on an elevator. I pressed the button to take me to the 8th floor and waited in excitement. It came to my floor and the doors open and there is Mary, my dear friend. I couldn't believe it. She took a quick glance and me and almost walked right past me to get on the elevator. I had to stop her and said, "Mary, it's me" She had a look of shock. I just started laughing. I told her I was expecting to surprise her at her office, not here at the elevator. She still looked shocked, but she did manage to tell the person she was with to go ahead. I gave her a big hug and she finally asked what I was doing there. I told her that I had a week off work and came to play. While standing there by the elevator I also saw Myra, she was happy to see me, and gave me a hug. Mary finally came out of shock and I offered to walk with her while she went and got her lunch. We did a quick catch up, and when I got back to the office I made the rounds and said hello to everyone. It was so fun to be back in the office. There are some amazing people there that I'm so blessed to have met and built a relationship with. I bet they never would have thought that 4 years later the intern would still come back to visit. I made my way back to Mary's desk and we continued to talk for the next hour or so. I was able to show her pictures of Jeremiah, my family and especially my niece and nephews. We updated me on her family and she showed me pictures of her growing kids. It really as if I had never left. Oh how I cherish my friendship with Mary, I hope one day she will come out to Utah, and I can show her my home. Alas it was time to say goodbye. But little did I know that as I was walking out of the office Wandra stepped out and surprised me. They said now we are even. Mary walked me out to the car and gave me a great big hug, thanked me for stopping by and said to be sure to say hello to my family. It was a practically perfect but very short visit.

I told CJ about my visit and we headed to the American History museum. There were lots of school groups there so we just hit a couple of the exhibits. A couple of my favorites are the First Lady dresses and The Star Spangled Banner. I didn't take any pictures because 1. it was very crowded 2. we weren't allowed to take pictures in the special room with the flag. I love the American History Museum, I love everything about it. I could spend hours and hours there. I'm so grateful to live in this great nation. Then we stumbled upon Julia Child's kitchen. That was really fun. I learned that it was the actual kitchen, she donated it to the museum.

We then spent a little bit of time in the gift shop. I was able to find a tea pot for my mom. She gave me some money when I left and said to keep an eye for one. We found 3 actually, apparently all of the presidents have a tea pot, I got her the George Washington one.

We then headed back home, it was a wonderful day and it turned out better than I had hoped.

WASHINGTON DC....Day 2

Day 2: Rehoboth Beach, DE

We got up early and headed out the door. CJ surprised Sarah by telling her that she was fed up with her behavior and told her that she isn't going to school, but she is taking her to the beach. We picked up a ward friend of Sarah's and headed our way. I love the drive to the beach. Driving through DE is so beautiful. Lots of farm land and fun little houses. It was a perfect day to go to the beach. 99 degrees out side and the water felt refreshing. The beach wasn't even crowded. I must admit that my body hadn't seen the sun since last summer, so I blinded all of the beach patrons, they got over it eventually.

WASHINGTON DC....Day 1

Yes my friends I went back to the great nation's capitol. It was a short trip, but it was practically perfect in every way. I stayed with my dear roommate and her family, and played played played. Here's a review in pictures.

Day 1: Wake up 3:30 AM, Jeremiah was kind enough to take to the airport to board the plane by 6:00 AM. It was a short flight to Dallas TX, I slept a good portion of the flight. I got off the plane, used the lou, bought something to eat then boarded my next plane. That flight was longer, but thank goodness for iPod's that you can watch movies on. Here is my first picture when I arrived 2:00 pm DC time.

It was quite an adventure find Clarissa aka CJ, we both got lost, but eventually found each other. It was a beautiful reunion, and I got to meet her cute little baby Cora Jane. Our first stop....Potbelly's of course.

It tasted so good. There was a slight set back when I learned they only make them with vanilla ice cream now, but it was still so so so delicious. Just what I needed to begin my adventures.

We got lost again, which I must admit was quite a surprise to me. CJ used to know her way around the city like the back of her hand, but she's lived outside of the city for so long she's lost touch. It was still so nice to be able to catch up on the drive home. We arrived home to a cooked meal by her nice husband and were greeted with a big hug from a little red head, her daughter Sarah.

After dinner we made cookies, and played Clue, CJ won....she pretended the whole time like she didn't know what she was doing. WHATEVER!

As it is Father's Day tomorrow I've been thinking a lot about the influence my father has in my life. He has always shown me the importance of hard work. I think that's what he is most known for. What ever he is doing he is doing his best.

My father has taught me to have a sense of humor. I love laughing with my dad. I love to see him get the giggles over something silly. He has to have a sense of humor where he works and I love to hear the funny stores from his day.

My dad likes to travel. Although he doesn't do as much as he would like, he's found a new love of cruising. I was lucky enough to be with him and my mom on their first cruise. We had so much fun, and my dad was right there doing all the many adventures with us. My dad loves to camp, and thats one of my earliest memories is camping with my dad. He always has a camping hat, and makes sure we are taken care of whether it be a fire in the morning or something to sleep on. He works hard even when we play hard.

My dad has a testimony of the gospel. I've never doubted my father's faith. When times have been tough and unsure, his faith is strong. He serves the Lord and does all he can, then he puts his faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. I often find him at night studying his scriptures, and then saying his prayers. He lives his testimony and my own testimony is strengthened my his faith. I'm so grateful that my father is a worthy priesthood holder. He honors and uses his priesthood wisely.

I love spending time with my dad. He is always my biggest fan, and best friend.

Tuesday night I was able to be at the bed side of my grandma as she passed away. It was a very peaceful and spiritual experience. I'm so grateful for the knowledge that families are forever.

Viola Faye Blevens Hintze "I'm Glad I Winked" Born January 25, 1922, she quietly passed away, surrounded by her family, May 18, 2011 due to causes incident to age. Mother's parents were Elbert Blevens and Evva Abbott. When she was born they were living on a homestead on the "day lands" south of Lamar, Colorado where she started her education in a one room country school house and later received an Associates Degree at a Junior College in Lamar. While working as a theater cashier, Mother noticed a "good looking stranger" passing by and she winked at him. She later married that stranger, Alan Sears Hintze, February 14, 1943 in Colorado Springs, CO; marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May, 1945. They initially settled in Taylorsville, Utah but due to Daddy's work they also lived in Schenectady, NY, Hamilton, OH, Cleveland, OH, and Germantown, MD. Everywhere they lived Mother and Daddy made wonderful friends they will always treasure. When Mother became a member of the LDS Church, she embraced it completely. The rest of her life was spent serving others in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society and as an ordinance worker in the Washington DC Temple. One of her fondest memories was teaching the youth of the Cleveland Ohio Stake to ballroom dance. Mother never met a stranger. Mother and Daddy opened their home to literally hundreds of people who needed a place to stay so they could attend the DC Temple. Mother's children are: Jan (Wendy), St. Marys, PA; Helen (David) Harlow, Provo, UT; Frank (Marla), West Jordan, UT; and Olia (Bill) Shearer, Chino Valley, AZ. Mother loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our warmest appreciation to the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living, South Jordan and Millcreek Home Health and Hospice. Christie, and so many others, thank you for everything. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Shadows 7th Ward, 7925 South 2700 West. Thats My Mom

One of the frequent compliments I receive is, "You have a wonderful Mother" I couldn't agree more.

My mother is one of kind, she is compassionate, funny, talented, beautiful, witty, and fun to be around. Growing up I didn't realize the sacrifices that my mom made to make my life so enjoyable and fulfilling.

My mother is my best friend. She has been there for me when I most needed her. She has sacrificed her time especially in this last year to help me get where I am today. I love to just talk with her. We talk about politics, current events, what's happening in our family, who got voted off Dancing with the Stars or who should have gotten voted off, our favorite Zumba song, my date the night before, a book we're reading, or we just talk to talk.

I appreciate her example of compassion. When ever we have more food than is needed she offers it to the neighbors. She will accompany anyone who needs it. She'll bring in a candy from her studio just because she thought I would enjoy a treat.

I love my mother's sense of humor. If I need a help with a practical joke, have a joke to tell she's one I go to first. She sees the fun and positive in life and lives it to the fullest.

She lives by the spirit. One day recently I was having a hard day. I was in tears most the day, she wasn't aware of this because I was at work. She happened to call and see if I wanted to go get a cupcake. It was exactly what I needed. My mom and chocolate.

My mom is musical not only on the piano, but she helped me with the cello, my sisters on the violin, Caleb on the viola and now Dinah on the harp. She is always singing a song that fits with any situation. You give her any word and she will sing you a song that has that word in it.

I admire the way she raised me and my siblings. She has a testimony of Gospel and she lives by it. She will often quote scriptures or prophets when I seek her advice. I learned the principle of obedience from her. She is known for saying, "You love whom you serve". This has blessed my life in more ways than I can count. And she is always serving.

I love my mom for many reasons. I am who I am because of my mother. And for that I will be eternally grateful.

Weekend=FUN!

This past weekend was fun filled to say the least. It started out with me falling asleep through "The King's Speech" yes it was edited down to PG, Thank you clear play. Oh and we must not forget the viewing of the Royal Wedding. I fast forwarded through most of it. But it was fun to see all the hats and Royalty. I absolutely loved Kate's dress.

The King's Speech was a great show. I want to watch it again when I'm not so tired. Saturday I slept in. I was woken by the sun. It was a wonderful feeling. I beat Caleb and Dinah twice at Harry Potter Clue. What can I say?

Then Jeremiah and I met up with some friends at Tuncano's. Oh my oh my, that was Y-U-M-M-Y. I loved it. I even tried heart. Not my favorite but my mom always says, "those who try things have more fun" and I did have fun. Following "linner" (lunch-dinner) we wanted to take advantage of the warm weather so we went to Boondocks. It was awesome. We got deal where we did 2 actiivities and got 5$ worth of arcade games. So we raced around the track in Go-carts and then had a competitive game of Miniature Golf. Jeremiah and I tied. If thats not precious I don't know what is. :) I really enjoyed the arcade games. Although the car racing wasn't my forte but I really like ski ball.

Sunday came with more sunshine and stake conference. New YSA stake and wards. I personally and excited for the changes. I will dearly miss those who are no longer in our ward, but I know that these changes are inspired and usually great things come from inspired programs. I really loved the new stake presidency and look forward to the new ward members.

It was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon, filled with lots of family. We played Harry Potter Clue again. We just can't get enough. Dinah won this time. It was a delicious dinner and then a fun family walk. One of my favorite Sunday evening activities. Following was a crazy game of spoons. To end it Mom, Jeremiah and I played Cribbage. I went to bed happy!

I love having fun weekends, it seems to make the week enjoyable too. I'm so grateful for great friends and family in my life. It makes life so enjoyable!

April Fools!

I love the April Fools holiday. This year the day was full of laughs.

I started early the night before. I short sheeted Caleb's bed. It worked out perfectly. Little did he know that more was coming. A couple years ago my roommates got me by tying my underwear together, I wanted Caleb and Dinah to enjoy that luxury, so I tied the few underwear they had together. Luckily I didn't have to work too early so I was able to see their reaction. It was priceless.

I knew that most likely something was coming my way while I was at work. When I came home from work I found that someone had taken my underwear and replaced it with Caleb and Dinah's. Awesome!

When I returned to work I made sure to get there early so I could pull a few quick ones on Crystal and Dr. O. I switched supply drawers on Crystal and tied Dr. O's gloves together. Luckily they thought it was funny too.

When I returned home Caleb was telling me about all of his big plans to get me back but mom wouldn't let him. He then went out to play outside and I just hung out with Jeremiah looking at cars. My dad was doing something in the kitchen and my mom walked in for a break from piano teaching. The next thing I know my mom is yelling from the bathroom that she is locked in. Someone had switched the door knobs. We all knew who it was...Caleb! I thought it was so funny, mom didn't think so.

I then went back up to Caleb's room and switched his clothes drawers, he found that pretty quick when he went to go change his clothes. It was great.

I then went out with Jeremiah thinking that all the tricks had been played. When I came home Caleb informed me that he was in the middle of taking my sheets off my bed when he had to go upstairs, so his final trick was that my bed was half way made. Props to him for trying. He had a big surprise for him when he found MY underwear in his drawer...Dinah was guilty of that one.

It was a great day! I'm a fan of classy, harmless tricks.

For years I have witnessed family members, friends, and complete strangers go crazy over sports. Myself never really got into it. I never followed a team or really knew anything about any players. I'm happy to report that this has changed.

It all started when I bought season tickets to BYU football. The first couple games I had lots of questions, but I slowly picked up on the rules, and tatics. I even did some research on the players and read about their positions, strengths, and life in general. I loved going to the games, I loved the feeling of being in the stadium, I loved it all. I especially LOVED it when they won. It was a tough start but they eventually pulled through and ended the season well.

The next week after the last home game was the Blue and White game for basketball. We went. It was the closest I had ever sat to the court. And thats where my love for Jimmer Fredette, Jackson Emry, Brandon Davies, and Charles Abouo began. Really it was love at first sight, for them as well.

Time went on, I kept them on my mind. They kept winning games, I would go when my mom would let me use her pass. The love for those boys just grew and grew and Noah Hartsock and Kyle Collinsworth earned their place in my heart. If I couldn't go to a game I was watching it on TV or listening on the radio. This was becoming my team, my first one ever.

They were on fire, a big win over San Diago State becoming #3 in the nation. I was so happy for them. Then it all came crashing down. Brandon Davies was suspended from the team. I was so sad when I heard the news. I felt bad for him and I felt bad for the team. I watched the team fight so hard to try and beat New Mexico but it was happening. I was so sad, I wanted to cry.

I didn't know what was wrong with me. Never before had my emotions been effected by a sports team. But I was and still am completely emotionally invested in this team. I can't get enough of them. Today I spent my lunch hour watching their first game in the tournament, I was nervous. But don't worry they won. But now they have to play New Mexico, and now more than ever I want them to win.

So there, I have admitted to it. I love BYU sports. You can bet that I will be purchasing season tickets to both football and basketball next year, and they wont be in the student section, I want a seat I can call my own that will be waiting for me each game.

The peace and quiet brings out the feelings of my heart.

Here we are half through February. It's a beautiful day out side. Seriously, it feels like spring. I'm one happy lady. The windows are open, I can smell the fresh air resonate through the house. It's just lovely.

It's the first Sunday in a long time that I have taken the time to just sit down and update myself on my life. This new year has brought many fun new adventures. Some planned and others were very much a surprise. The Lord is blessing me and I know He is guiding me.

Back before Christmas the Bishop called me into his office. I knew a change was coming because the Relief Society president and second counselor were leaving the ward. I was so sad that they were leaving and that I would be released. I had loved my calling in relief society. I loved serving the sisters, we have such a fun, talented and strong relief society, it was a huge blessing to be able to be apart of the great things going on. But I was ready for whatever the Lord had next for me. In the interview the Bishop asked how everything was going in my life (typical in an interview) He then extended the call to be Relief Society President. My jaw literally dropped. He testified to me that he felt that I was the young woman for the job right now. I just started crying. ha ha I was so happy that I was going to be able to stay serving in the relief society but I was scared, then humbled, then just awe struck. I told him I would gladly serve.

I can honestly say that ever since that moment much of my thought revolve around the sisters in my relief society. I have so much love for every single one of them. I know that is hard to believe but it comes with the calling. I find it a huge blessing. I have wonderful counselors and a spectacular secretary, we are now just getting the swing of things. I couldn't be happier. Just a year ago I hated (yes hated) the singles ward. I hated the fact that it was so different than a singles ward up at BYU-I and I didn't really have a group of friends so I felt like I didn't fit in. But through going to activities, participating in lessons, and then serving I've grown to love the singles ward. I love the people and I love the leadership. My new calling has been a blessing in more ways than I can express. It can be time consuming, and I've had a couple sleepless nights with different sisters and situations on my mind. But I have experienced a new level of charity. These sisters are beautiful daughters of God. They all have such divine potential and I just want the best for each of them.

I have loved living at home with my family. My parents have been great mentors, examples and support through every thing I do. Some of my favorite times of the day is just my one on one time with my mom, or talking with my dad. I know that they love me and want the best for me. I appreciate the hardwork they both put in to support our family. I see that more now than I did growing up. But I love them and appreciate all they do. My mom and I are very similar and I love that we can talk, laugh and go to Zumba together. We've been playing a lot of games recently and I just get the giggles every time my dad plays. He doesn't really like to play but I appreciate his sacrifice to do so.

I love being able to spend time with Caleb and Dinah. I just think of where they are right now and how ahead of me they are when I was their age. Caleb is the nicest teenage boy I know. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is so considerate of others. Not to mention how handsome he is becoming. We can have a wonderful conversation and he has a lot to offer as a 14 year old boy. Dinah is adorable. She just turned 12. It's been so fun to see her transform into a young lady. She is one of the happiest people I know. Being the baby of the family she sometimes gets treated as such but she takes it like a champ. I love watching her progress in her ballet and harp. Dinner time has become one of my favorite parts of the day when we all sit around the table and just talk and laugh. I know that these experiences are numbered so I'm not taking them for granted.

Having the rest of my family live near by is a huge blessing. Jacob and Cori with Benjamin and Grace usually stop by a couple times a week. Watching their family grow and develop has been so fun. Jacob and Cori are wonderful examples of working hard and living the commandments. I know it isn't easy to live off of one income, and Cori living so far away from her family but they do it, and I love them for it. I appreciate their interest in my life, and always making me feel special. I love that Abby and Steve living 5 mins away. Abby and I were two peas in a pod growing up, now circumstances have changed but our relationship hasn't; I appreciate both Abby and Steve's friendship. They as well are great parents and I appreciate the fact that they make family a priority in their life.

Sarah has always been the leader of the pack in the family. I'm amazed at her hard work and dedication. I know it isn't easy but Sarah always makes it look easy. I appreciate her intellectual outlook on life. She is very informed on everything and I can go to her for any type of help. Sarah and I have a similar love for Experiential Education. It's so fun share different ideas and activities. Hannah is having the time of her life at BYU Idaho, and actually following in my footsteps more than she anticipated but she is making her own trail. I love the fact that I can help by letting her know what classes to take, who to talk to and most of all which guys to dance with at country dancing. I love that when she's home she usually ends up sleeping in my bed even though there is a bed (sometimes 2) available to her.

BYU SPORTS!!! Some may not call this a good time, but I love it. Having season passes to football and now with my mom's sports passes being able to go to basketball, (yes I've been Jimmered) it's been a blast. We even went to a volleyball game and a gymnastics meet. This adventure is one that I wasn't planning on at all, but I'll gladly take it. The energy you feel by just being there with all the other fans is irreplaceable. I didn't know my blood pressure could be affected by a score board. I just can't help myself when the I witness the Cougars win another great game.

Dating...its just great. I love having a best friend that I grow to love more each day. Plus who doesn't like to steal a few kisses every now and then? He's been by my side through the good and bad, supported me in my calling, and has taken the time to get to know my family. Who knows what the future holds but I'm just enjoying each day I have with him.

"Be Not Afraid"

I may not know what to expect in the future, but I know that I don't need to fear. If I do my part, and strive to keep progressing the Lord will bless me. I strive to make His will my will. It can be difficult at times, but the end result is so much better than I could imagine. I love the Savior Jesus Christ. I love the Gospel and joy and peace that it brings into my life. I love the temple and the feeling of comfort that I receive when I enter the doors. I love the Book of Mormon and I know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ, what it teaches and proclaims is true.

Life is Good...Cheers!

Dream Cruise

By far one of my favorite vacations. To this day we still talk about how much fun we had.

Getting a job at APA

This wasn't my first choice as a job but I appreciated the income that it provided. Those kids were a hoot!

BYE BYE BIRDIE

This show was a huge blessing in more than one way. It was so fun to do a musical with my mom and my little sister. I met some great people, grew as an actress/singer, and met the man I love today.

Grace May was born

This little girl is BEAUTIFUL, she looks just like her mother and I can't get enough of the little thing.

Girls trip to Grand Canyon

This trip was quick but well worth it. If you haven't seen the Grand Canyon do it as soon as you can.

Kick ball

One of the funnest things I did all year. Wednesday nights our team went out there full force. We didn't know what it felt like to win a game till the end of the season. It was awesome can't wait to do it again this year.

Island Park/Yellowstone

This trip is what I look forward to at the end of summer. It was super cold, and we even got snowed on this year. But it was so fun. I didn't get any pictures of canoeing, but it was a blast.

BYU Football

I hope to make this a tradition. It was so fun. I'm converted to football, especially if you are there like we were every home game. RISE AND SHOUT!

Baby Elijah was born

This little guy is a hoot. I can't imagine life with out him. He's much, much chunkier now.

Gall Bladder Surgery

This was a great blessing and a great trial this year. More of a blessing than a trial though.

Grand Canyon Road Trip

This trip was a high light of the year. It was so fun to spend so much time with some of my favorite people. Plus I just love road trips.

Believe it or not we went to the actual court room. We first were there when a psychiatrist was testifying, then we were there when the verdict was read. It was an awesome experience and I'm so glad we took the chance.

Christmas magic

This Christmas season was so fun. It was full of parties, concerts, family and my love.

My Birthday
No pictures, but I'm one year old. I'm working on my 25th year as we speak. It was a fun birthday filled with people that I love and lots of well wishes.

Festival of Trees. When I was younger this is what started the Christmas season for me. I was able to perform there every year. I was lucky enough to jump in on a performance this year and then watch my little brother. It's fun to see all the different types of trees, and help a good cause.

The Hintze ladies (minus Sarah who lives in Provo, we missed her) went up town for lunch today. The Lion House has yummy food and the company was even better. Of course Benjamin and Elijah came along.

The Christmas dishes are out of storage, and the Christmas place mats are back in use.

We've had the Christmas place mats as long as I can remember. My mom has collected sets of Christmas dishes the past couple years. They are one of my many favorite things about the Christmas season. While sitting down for dinner I always try to sit at my favorite design. Sometimes you have to put up a little fight for the one you want. Today Dinah said to me, "I just love Christmas dishes, they just bring the Christmas spirit."

Falling in Love

I'm alive! Surgery went well, recovery....well that wasn't my favorite. I was out of commission for a week. It wasn't fun. My family was nice enough to let me have a mattress in the middle of the living room so I didn't miss out on any fun. (and also because I wasn't supposed to do stairs for the first little bit) but there I laid, not very coherent for about 3 days. But I do remember my tummy hurting. Why? Well I got stabbed 4 times.

I had a great surgeon and the nurses at the surgical center were great. I took to the anesthesia like a champ, I didn't even make it to the operation room before I was out.

Sorry if that's a little too much skin. But I thought it looked cool and I would be curious what someone else's tummy looked like. Those looked good then but once I took off the badges after a week they weren't so cool. Just 4 little incisions, count your blessings right.

Luckily I prescribed pain killers and those knocked me out. Thus not being coherent the first little bit. While I laid there on my death bed, I was well taken care of. Mr. J Wing and my fabulous mother pretty much catered to my every need.

This picture was taken after I was woken up by Dinah touching my forehead expecting me to feel cold. She thought I looked dead! I think I look like death warmed over.

Now I feel great. The surgery worked. I can eat and feel no pain. I love it and appreciate food more. It's amazing what doctors can do. I will now live the rest of my life with out a gall bladder.

I had a wonderful summer and then Fall has been a dream. BYU games, babies, State Fair, beautiful colors, and lots more.

I've made a goal to blog at least 3x a week. So I'll post some more pictures in the future but here are some yummy fall colors.

THE GALL of BITTERNESS!

This story begins almost exactly a month ago. I was feeling pain in my tummy whenever I ate anything. Thinking it was bad indigestion I took some tums and figured I was good to go. Nope I wasn't. So I tried lemon tea and flax seed oil pills...that didn't work either. After a very uncomfortable time at the State Fair (yes the home of greasy yummy food) I had a thought that maybe it was my gall bladder.

I didn't even know what a gall bladder was. My mom did some research and I had most of the symptoms. We tried a liquid diet. Attempted to make some soup but we got the ingredients mixed up and turned out to be cilantro soup...not so good. Finally after much pain and "encouragement" I went to go see a doctor. He thought it was gall bladder issues as well. I finally learned what your gall bladder does. It helps process fatty foods thus when not working properly it hurts after you eat. He scheduled some blood work and an ultra sound. Both came back "normal". I didn't know what normal was, so then he scheduled another ultra-sound. One which I can't remember the name but I was injected with a hormone to make my gall bladder do it's thing, that actually caused pain and so they knew for sure that something was wrong. Strangely enough my gall bladder is working properly but it just hurts when its working.

The Doc then scheduled me to meet with a surgeon. Yes I was nervous. I'm so grateful my sister Abby was there with me otherwise I think I would have cried. The surgeon asked me all the same questions as every one else did and felt my tummy. For some reason he didn't think that cheese fries and milk shakes were helping with the pain. Yup it was my gall bladder. Well the Gall Bladder is coming out! Its a simple procedure the surgeon said. He makes 3 incisions sticks some stuff in my tummy watches the screens and takes it out. No problem..... yikes. I haven't been checked into a hospital since I came into this world. Yes this is an out patient surgery but I still will be cut into and an organ will be taken out of me.

Surgery is scheduled for Monday and I will be taking visitors, hopefully I wont be laying in coffin with my arms crossed over my chest and my hair neatly combed. JUST KIDDING I'LL BE FINE. Recovery time is 5-7 days. Until then I'm enjoying smoothies and basically rabbit food. Unless of course I sneak a bite of real food here and there and then feel the pain later.

So here's to yummy hamburgers, tacos, hot dogs, ice cream, and cheese fries...you probably will be the death of me.

Disclaimer: I don't only eat hamburgers, tacos, hot dogs, ice cream, and cheese fries. Almost any food causes pain they just cause the most pain. But taste so so good!

The life of a workin girl isn't too shabby. I love having my nights free and getting paid every 2 weeks is sure helping my bank account. I'm an "Office Manager" at Osborne Dental. It seems like a big title but really I anwer the phone, schedule appointments, send in claims and statements, and help make everyone's experience at the dentist enjoyable. I also have been trained to help out at the chair assisting the dentist suctioning, handing him different tools, and asking all kinds of questions while the patients mouth is wide open with all kinds of contraptions inside. You all know what I'm talking about.

Here's a shout out to Osborne Dental and me doing my part to help the business grow.... mention this blog post and get this steal of a deal!

Dr. Osborne is a general dentist and is fantastic. He's thorough and will always let you know what your options are to help keep your teeth healthy and looking great. He also is great with kids.

We take most insurances, just call to make sure. We even accept Dental Select-Silver which isn't accepted by most dentists in the valley.

Remember that it's important to have your teeth examed and cleaned at least twice a year.

Into the Wild

My family is so cool. Do you want to know why? We have a season pass to the Hogle Zoo. We went to other day and it was a perfect day to be at the zoo. It was over cast and cool. Most of the animals were very active and fun to watch.

I also loved watching my nephew as well. He's a handsome little fella.

This last picture is one of my favorites. He loved holding the little lady bug. I love his little curious face.

Dress Up!

As a little girl I loved to play dress up. We had the best clothes for that too. I can remember spending hours in my basement either by myself, with my sisters, or with friends dressing in so many clothes and being who ever we felt like at the time. From rags to riches I did it all.

One of the best reasons to do a musical is you get to dress up in some of the best costumes out there. As Rose Alverez I had BEAUTIFUL costumes that seemed to bring out all the right curves.

I loved all of them but my favorites were the gray shirt with the flower skirt, the red dress and the blue dress.

I wish that we bring back the style of ladies wearing pretty dresses all time. I found that I "carried" myself differently and I felt very feminine.
